A native Californian, Nicole was raised in Los Angeles and has always had a fascination with creating her own look. Growing up in a household with her musician father, Lionel Richie, she was exposed to costume designers, tailoring, & design from an early age. Nicole immersed herself in competitive figure skating as a child, and with the help of her father's costume designer, she began to design her competition costumes starting at age 11. The passion sparked, and Nicole found excitement in creating something in her mind and watching it come to life. “Fashion gives you the ability express yourself, take a look inward and discover what you are drawn to and why.” It was from this idea, that House of Harlow 1960 was born.
In 2008, Nicole launched House of Harlow 1960 jewelry, and by she 2010 had expanded the line to include apparel and footwear. House of Harlow 1960 has now become a full lifestyle brand including eyewear, home fragrance, and tech accessories. Since its inception, this brand has received rave reviews, awards, and a tremendous celebrity following.
